Manual Sizing, Zooming and Resolution of Fracthunder 2.1

Specify the Viewport of the Fractal
Specify Coördinations

The Viewport (the part off the fractals that will displayed) is part a of the fractal settings.
You can specify the Coördinations in the dialogbox of fractals settings:

Mirroring the fractal

Note that you can mirror the fractal via the X-axis by swapping the values in column Imaginair, and you can mirror the fractal via the Y-axis by swapping the values in column Real.

Zoom In

It is very simple to zoom in:

The selected part will be displayed in the whole window.

Zoom Out

It is very simple to zoom out:

The part in the whole Window will be schrinked into the selected part.

Switch between Zoom In and Zoom Out Mode

You can switch by pressing the Right Mousebutton.

Resolution
The resolution of the displayed fractal

When a picture of a fractal is generated, a rectange of a certain resolution (or size) is used. The size of this reactange need not be the same as the size of the Window. If the size or the Window is greater than the size of the rectange, the pixels of that rectange is is drawed as block. If the size or the Window is smaller than the size of the rectange, not all pixels are drawed, and strange black points or lines are drawed (this is a kind of bug), but it has no effect when exporting the picture to a file. When viewing the fractal, the best is to keep the size of the Window and the rectangle equal.

size of rectangle equal to size of window
size of rectangle less than size of window
size of rectangle greater than size of window

Specify the resolution of the displayed fractal

  • Press or choose in the menu:Fractal | Fractal Properties....
  • In the new dialogbox select tab Scanning.
  • In group Resolution in Column Pixels change Horizontal and Vertical Resolutions.
  • You can make (for each dimension) the resolution of the rectange equals to the size of the Window, by pressing button < Window for that dimension.
  • Press button [OK].

  • The resolution of the scanned fractal

There is also a other kind of resolution.
For every pixel in the rectangle, it is possible to calculate more than one times to create a better picture of a fractal. The (mathematical) fractal is scanned using a higher resolution and the "smaller" pixels are grouped together into small squares. Every pixel of the rectange is mapped to each square. The color of the pixels in each square are mixed together and put in to the mapped pixel of the rectangle.
The result is a more clear picture of the fractal.

Specify the resolution of the scanned fractal

  • Press or choose in the menu:Fractal | Fractal Properties....
  • In the new dialogbox select tab Scanning.
  • In group Resolution in Column Internal change Horizontal and Vertical Resolutions.
  • Press button [OK].

  • Specify the size of squares mapped to one displayed pixel

  • Press or choose in the menu:Fractal | Fractal Properties....
  • In the new dialogbox select tab Scanning.
  • When altering the size of the square the proportion between the two kind of resolutions will change.
  • Choose in group Resolution the option under Update Resoltion which kind of resolution should change, when altering the size of the square.
  • In group Resolution specify the size in Values per Pixel.
  • Press button [OK].

  • size of square 1 x 1
    size of square 2 x 2
    size of square 4 x 4
